WEEK 179 - THE BIG SITE CLEARANCE

Although it has been a short working week due to another Public Holiday, much has been achieved to fulfill Brett's priorities. My apologies for the pictures that have dots - the beams in the ceiling were being sanded and the dust, although invisible to the eye, was picked up by the camera.

Here Sabina is searching for bolts for Terminus who has rejoined the Team to fit more door locks & bolts and thus make the building secure to store the furniture when it arrives.

The main front door required expert help and Kenrick and Alex Thompson were called in to fashion the specialist tools required to fit the double lock, a suitable handle has yet to be purchased .

The remainder of the doors have a more conventional style and the pewter colour looks very effective against the hardwood doors.

There remain only 2 pieces of glass to be fitted into the arch which will happen when the scaffolding in the outer hall has been removed.

Of course the filling, sanding and sealing continues in the outer hall ........

But the inner celing is now complete and the scaffolding removed.

The granite for the Master Bedroom has been delivered at long last and will be secured next week by Kenrick & Sabina.

Meanwhile, O'Niel and Shevran have been fixing the tiles to the final flashing reported last week.

The scaffolding has been removed from the kitchen/master bedroom now that Kerian has finished cleaning the stonework.

With a small excavator on site, it was decided to move the generator - which had been languishing in the drive for some months - closer to its final position adjacent to the Pump House.

A winch will need to be made to lift it up to it's final resting place under the pool deck.

The major push of the week was to clear the site of the inevitable debris that accumulates during the course of a build and the persistent undergrowth that is unstoppable in these climes.

Moving the mahogany off-cuts required much discussion, termites have unfortunately moved in & most of the wood will need to be burnt.

Now where is that mobile phone I dropped 3 years ago?!

The trusty shed that has seen the building of 2 major constructions in the Bay was finally dismantled.

Several truck loads of rubble were taken to another site as land fill for a driveway, the rest will be taken to the dump.

And at long last, the Tea House is emerging in its final form.
