Week 5 has seen the arrival of the rainy season with leaves and flowers breaking out on the Extravagant Tree.

The pool has been cleaned out and we are now collecting rain water for future concrete mixing when the contents of the old tanks run out. The swimming pool guru - Mr McDoon - also paid a visit on Tuesday and we await his estimate for the pool renovation.

The covers have been removed from both water tanks and the insides inspected. The larger tank was disappointing as the roof is very thin and the supporting iron girders are rusted. Consequently, the whole ceiling will have to be removed and recaste.

However, the smaller tank is in a much better state and only requires emptying and cleaning.

The inner wall of the carport has come on apace ……

but we have now run out of stone from the old building and are having to purchase additional quantities locally.

The Pump House roof is still supported and it will be a further week before the concrete is sufficiently cured to remove the bamboo.

As reported last week, the main effort has been the continuation of laying footings, casting columns and erecting form work for the flat and ground floor.

Kenrick is confident that we will be able to caste the floor next week, but I have my doubts!!

However, I have to admit that Kenrick and his team are racing ahead of the next-door-neighbours who, despite all their efforts, are failing miserably to catch up.
