Happy to be back!!

It's been an exciting week for me.....just to absorb the fact that we've designed & are having a house built in a stunning location...I still can't quite believe it!

I arrived last Sunday & had to go straight to site......& up the Tower!

The steps up are great, the view from the top is fab!

This is Brett's addition to the design... I've got to admit it's brilliant!...the guy's where determined it wasn't an option to remove the tower when I tried to cut the overall cost.

The progress since our last visit in October is incredible, it's really taking shape.

I've spent the week walking round the house, it's just as the original ideas, the spaces work well, Kenerick (the contractor) & his team have done a great job.

Malcolm our Architect has done well translating our ideas & producing accurate structural drawings.
He's been keeping an eye on the progress & advising Kenrick on any technical details.

Unfortunately he's not been very successful pressurising the wood supplier (he recommended), no wood no roof!!!!!
I've been on the edge of my seat all week, hoping to receive a call any minute that the wood has been released by customs........todays news confirmed it wasn't there anyway.......the joys of dealing with Caribbean suppliers.

The week started with working out the best solution to the drive.

Kenrick marked out the largest curve which would form the swooping bend up to the front carport area.
I've started rethinking the front entrance steps, as there will probably need to be an additional 2no. steps as well as plenty of room for a car to park.

The reduced team started the digging & building the retaining wall.
Whilst the guys were working I was busy sourcing what is available on the island.....lots more research to be done.

The locals & tourists are now referring to the build as the castle.........I think my hair will need to grow a lot longer....(maybe dread locks) there's still plenty of time before completion.
